5 Back to School Tips for Families

It’s that time of year again when families are shifting from summer fun and into back-to-school mode! Getting out of that summer mindset can be challenging for kids and parents alike, so here are some tips to help smooth the transition and relieve added stress.

Mind the Bedtime

To help kiddos ease back into the school year routine, implement their bedtime 2 weeks in advance. This will help them get back in the habit of going to bed at a certain time and spare you the night before school bedtime debate.

Take Inventory

Before you go shopping for new school supplies, go through what’s leftover from last year so you don’t end up with more than you need!

Break Out the Family Calendar

Whether you’re using a printed calendar or family calendar app, keeping track of everyone’s activities in one place will definitely save you some time and stress! Keep your printed family calendar in a common area so everyone has access to it or use a digital calendar you can invite family members to.

Let Them Pick

Give kids the chance to pick some of their own clothes and school supplies to help them get excited for the school year! They don’t have to pick everything out, but letting them choose their own notebook, planner, or a few shirts will put a smile on their face.

Take a Break!

Getting back to the school grind is tough on both parents and kids, so give your family a break with a trip early in the school year. Splashway Waterpark is open weekends through October 9th and nothing perks up the family like WET YOUR PANTS fun!
