5 Ways to Protect Your Child in the Texas Sun

We all know the Texas sun is a force to be reckoned with! That’s why sun safety is so important, especially for little ones. The easiest thing to do would be to keep them indoors all Summer, but what fun is that? Instead, here are 5 ways you can protect their delicate skin from the sun!

Sunblock – Apply, Swim, Repeat!

Obviously, this is the most important. It may also be known by your kids as “the smelly spray that keeps me from jumping in the water”. While it may not be their favorite thing, they’ll thank you for it later! It is recommended to use SPF 30 or higher, but always remember to apply and reapply throughout the day to avoid a burn.

Shade from the Rays!

The sun is strongest from 10 am to 4 pm, so make sure you have a shaded haven to relax in to give their delicate skin a break! They may not sit still for long, but a little break can go a long way.

Swimsuit or Sunsuit?

A sunsuit is a little different from the cute bikinis you traditionally see at Target. A sunsuit provides more coverage on the legs, chest, and arms to give your little one more protection from UV rays!

Sunglasses – Safety and Style!

Most adults don’t go outside without sunglasses, but what about your little ones? Their eyes need protection too! If you have a rowdy little one, try sunglasses with a wrap-around strap so they don’t lose them in the first 10 minutes.

Hats – Brimming with Protection

Especially great for toddlers who don’t have a lot of hair, hats can keep your child’s scalp safe from a painful sunburn. The wider the brim, the more protection you get. Want our advice? Go floppy!

Now that you know how to stay safe, it’s time to bring them out to the best family waterpark in Texas – Splashway! Can’t wait to see you and your little ones soon!
