7 Fun and Funny Family Games to Play On the Road to Splashway

“Are we there yet?” You’ve undoubtedly had to tackle this question when you’ve still got an hour left to get to get to Splashway. Don’t let your car ride kill your family vacation buzz! Keep them pumped for Splashway Waterpark & Campgrounds with these fun car games! Playing them will give you some laughs along the way, bring your family closer together, and make the time fly by!

License Plate Game

Everyone knows this classic! The goal is to spot 1 license plate from each of the 50 states – the person with the most complete list of states at the end of the trip wins!

Find the Car

A twist on the license plate game – you specify a make or model of a car and players shout it out when they see one. For younger kids, you can substitute colors for makes and models. Have them yell out “banana” for a yellow car, “strawberry” for a red one, and so on.

Tap Bug

Splashway’s kid-friendly spin on “Slap Bug”! Anytime you spot a VW Beetle on your road trip, you tap your opponent to signify another point. The winner is the person with the most taps at the end of the road trip.

I Spy

For parents who prefer less competitive games to keep the peace, this is an excellent option. Kids can pick a visual point and say “I spy with my little eye something that’s (insert descriptive word).” The object of the game is for the opponent to guess what the player is referring to with as few descriptions as possible.

I’m Going on a Picnic

This is one that’s most fun when the whole family joins in! The object of the game is to go through the entire alphabet, with each person adding another word during their turn. Here’s how it goes: “I’m going on a picnic and I’m bringing…” The first person might say “an apple.” Person #2 would repeat the sentence “I’m going on a picnic and I’m bringing an apple, and a banana.” The third person would then repeat the same sentence, both items mentioned by players 1 and 2, and add another word which corresponds with the next letter of the alphabet. One round of the game lasts until you reach the letter Z or someone is unable to remember all the words that came before their turn.

The Story Game

This one will test your memory skills! The first player starts a story with a sentence, like “Once upon a time there was a Frog named Bob and he loved jumping on his lily pad.” The next person repeats that sentence and then adds another, the next player adds another, and so on. The game is over whenever players decide the story has come to an end, or one of the players can’t remember the entire story up to their turn.

Two Truths and a Fib

The one time you can tell your kids that it’s ok to fib! Each person will tell two truths about themselves and one fib, other players have to guess which of the statements are true and which are a fib. Each player gets to ask 3 questions to help them determine which is which.

Now that you have the car games down, it’s time to book your next family vacation at Splashway! What are you in the mood for? Camping or Waterpark fun? Don’t forget – Season Pass holders get an extra 10% off purchases! See you soon!
